The Avia Austin Triathlon

Four OutRival Racing triathletes raced the AVIA Austin Triathlon on Labor Day! Despite a downpour during the bike, all four athletes had awesome races!!

Sharon Griggs (above photo) completed her first Olympic Triathlon ever! Her first goal was just to get out of the water as quickly and comfortably as possible. She did that and more! She swam 44:54, biked 16.8mph, and ran 9:31 pace. Total time was 3:19:53. Next up for Sharon is the Ironstar Half Ironman.

Adam Currier finished the Olympic Triathlon in 2:20:06. He swam the 1.5K in 25:10, biked the 40K in 21.9mph, and ran the 10K at 6:50 min/mile pace. He finished 10th overall in the 30-34 Age Group! Next up for Adam is the Town Lake Oly in a few weeks.

Richard Tramm set a personal best in the Olympic Triathlon at 3:18:31. He swam 33:23, biked 17.7mph, and ran 11:53 pace! Depending on his knee (grr...), next up for Richard is Austin 70.3.

Derek McCoy had a fabulous showing in the Sprint Distance race! He had the 4th fastest swim in his age group at 12:04 for the 700m swim. He had the 5th fastest AG bike at 19.9 mph for the 27K bike. His improving run split helped him finish the sprint in 1:45:19 overall!

Awesome Job Triathletes!
