Combat and CapTex

What a exciting weekend of races! Numerous OutRival Racing athletes raced the Combat Sprint in Clear Lake on Saturday and the extremely hot Cap Tex Olympic race in Austin on Memorial Day.

COMBAT SPRINT results

CAPTEX OLYMPIC RESULTS

The CapTex Triathlon in Austin is always a hot and crazy race. A couple athletes told me that they were successful in just making it to the finish line, because it was so hot on the run.

Sarah Gray had an outstanding race! She placed third in her 20-24 age group (and 5th out of the age-group women!) with a time of 2:31:31. Although the swim looked like it was considerably long across the results, she swam in 27:18 for the 1.5K swim, biked 21.1 mph for the 40K bike, and ran 7:47 pace for the 10K run.

Lisa Jaster had a very frustrating race (as she described). She had a great swim and a really strong bike! She biked 1:09:34 (21.4 mph) which gave her the second fastest bike split for her 30-34 age group. But, she was unfortunately stopped in her tracks due to cramping on the run. Bummer!! She gutted it out and crossed the finish line, though! I know you'll figure out the cramping issues for next time, Lisa!

Raul Luzardo had a strong swim in 34 minutes, a strong 1:08 bike and struggled in the heat on the run (this sounded like what many people experienced today?!) He stuck it out to the end and finished 37th in the Men's 30-34 age group.

Jorge Lemus suffered a calf cramp the first few minutes of the swim, and was unable to use that leg for the remainder of the swim (anyone that has ever had a charlie horse while swimming knows his pain!). He was able to bike through the pain at 20.7 mph and run at 10:48 pace. Total time=3:07:32 and 99th in his age group. This is Jorge's first full Oly triathlon!

Karen Maldonado (a great friend, but not an OutRival athlete ;-) won the overall Master's division at CapTex in an overall time of 2:29. Karen is showing up as a DNF in the results for some reason, but she finished... and finished fast!!

Congrats athletes!
