Half-Marathon Weekend and Thanks to Tim Monk!!!

First of all, I have to say a big big THANK YOU to Tim Monk for putting together this website. He built a website for himself so that he can post how his training for Kona this October is going, and he offered to help get one started for me. Thanks Tim!

This weekend is the Houston Half Marathon and Marathon. I have several friends running this weekend including Tim Monk, Ed York, Bret Strong, Sandra Sutherland, Jennifer Perkins, Katie Gustafson, and Karen Maldonado. Good luck to everyone running this weekend!

I will be running the Half this weekend, and for the first time in a very long time, I am not nervous about the distance. I have had three months of solid base-building and been able to run some pretty high volume weeks during this time. I'm not injured, either, which is quite rare for me. I have wanted to do the Houston event for years, but just haven't been able to put in the aerobic training necessary to compete well.

As a professional triathlete, I am always looking on the web for other triathlete's training regimens. Despite all the info out there, I find it hard to learn how successful athletes train. Then I realized that I don't post anything about how I train. There is a part of me that doesn't want to "reveal" how I train unless I know that its the best form of training, at least for me. I am making some considerable changes to both my training volume and amount of high-intensity training this year, and I am very excited about the improvements I know I am going to make. I have a good feeling about 2009... :)
