Dallas Toyota Open... not the results I was expecting!

I raced the Lifetime Fitness Dallas Toyoto Open this last weekend. It was an Olympic distance triathlon with a "Who's Who in Triathlon" professional field. For whatever reason (and yes, I am trying to figure out that reason!), I just didn't race as well I as I thought I would today. I had a few technical issues on the swim... the sun was so intense, I literally couldn't see the next buoy in front of me. But I also had a pretty flat bike ride as well. I had a pity-party for a few minutes at the start of the bike, but I kept thinking "Your award is not here at this race... it's in heaven :) So, you might as well have fun and still race as hard as you can." So, I finished the race as strong as I could. If I look on the bright side... it's nice to know I can run a sub 39-minute 10K on dead legs. I would have been ecstactic about that a few years ago.

Next up is Cinco Ranch (postponed due to Hurricane Ike). Then I may do the Ironstar race in Conroe just for fun. Right now I am leaning to sticking with the Olympic distance races next year... but obviously making some changes in my training.

Good luck to Dana Lyons in Kona this weekend. He's going to do great!! Congrats to Paul and Heidi Allen in Dallas. Also, congrats also to those that raced in Austin last weekend... Kelly Handel, Lourdes, Clint, and all the other Woodlands' triathletes!
